This is what I received upon a phone call inquiry to homeaffairs.

"Dear Pawan,

Thank you for requesting information on a ceremony.  I can see that your application for Australian citizenship has been approved and you will be required to attend a citizenship ceremony as the last step in becoming an Australian citizen.

Generally, ceremonies are scheduled within six months of approval but waiting periods vary. The Department will write to you with details of your ceremony when one has been arranged for you. There is no need to contact the Department or your local council about your ceremony.

Alright then, just relax, this is now hopeless.

Got my approval on 05/08/22.

All other councils either have low backlog or have continuous ceremonies every month.

As per Immi website on citizenship Ceremony wait times for Georges River Council

Total Applications - 691
Wait time less than 3 months(43%) - 297
Wait time 3 to 6 months(26%) - 180
Wait time more than 6 months(31%) - 214

Considering my approval date, thought I will be falling under 3 to 6 months category and expected 26/01/23 ceremony will be a bigger one and expected I would be invited..but I didn't happened :(

@fury36 when is your approval?
We are allowed to travel oversea during this time so I guess they don't have the need to clear the backlog.
You can lodge FOI to see the exact number.

I’m now wondering people approved from which month are invited for ceremony on 26/01/23, was expecting this ceremony with huge numbers to clear the backlog…looks like it is not the case now

No I haven't checked with the council this week. However upon checking with Homeaffairs, they are saying it's taking around 8 months these days for the ceremony invite to come by.

Have you checked with Council this week about the candidate list?
I guess the list should be available now, and we are not in the list.
Still no idea about the schedule of next ceremonies.

If homeaffairs haven't given them a list, I guess there's nothing much they can do. And Staff at the homeaffairs have traditionally been hopeless.

Yes, do not know why Georges River has no update on the ceremony, like they have no idea...
