I live in New Jersey & was able to get an appointment at a nearby USCIS location for 19th July. I've heard that USCIS has stopped entertaining walk-ins for biometrics requests, but I think it varies by location.

Oh, that's great! Thanks for getting back.
I have also received a request for biometric information. If you don't mind sharing, where are you located in the US? Do you know whether it is possible to walk in (instead of booking an appointment) and have your biometrics taken? 
I am asking because when I look up appointments on the local USCIS site, it only allows me to book appointments from Jul 22 onward.

Yes, I did receive an update requesting for biometric information. I received this update on the same day my profile indicated that medicals had been cleared.

Hey, did you get any email request to give your fingerprints/biometrics?
I was assuming that this would happen at the same time as when your medicals are cleared.
Since you and I have the same AOR date, I just wanted to check whether they sent the biometrics request to anyone.
I have not received it yet myself.
