In January 2022, Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced that Canada's spousal sponsorship for new applicants had returned to its 12-month processing standard.
Efforts to modernize Canada's immigration system have put Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) back on track, according to government media releases. IRCC has also launched a portal where spousal and child sponsor applicants can track their immigration applications online.
The 12-month service standard is the same whether the spouse application is a domestic applicant or an international applicant. In both cases, processing time includes the time required for applicants to provide biometric information, the time required for IRCC to evaluate sponsors and sponsored individuals, and the time required to ensure applicants meet eligibility requirements.
To keep track of your application and dates when you can expect to get your status updates don’t forget to use Immigration trackers. Your case means a lot!
