You could check the waiting numbers in every council using this link. I think Port Phillip is one of the quick councils. Maybe you could also ring the council and see what other information they can provide like the number of applicants they plan to invite for the upcoming ceremonies, and then you would have a rough idea. (There were 200 for my ceremony FYI)

I changed to Kingston Council on the day of interview (I saw less ppl waiting in Kingston).
Got invited on 19/8 for 15/9 ceremony.
